The Naboo Senatorial Flying Wing starship approaches Coruscant. It's escorted by several Nubian starfighers. It has been on a humanitarian mission for the Galactic Representative Commission, a committee of political representatives involved in humanitarian issues. Coruscant, Chancellor Palpatine's Office

The Chancellor is sat at a massive table, littered with star-maps and futuristic office supplies. Palpatine looks out of the vast window and smiles. (theforce.net)

The ships manoeuvre their way through the capital as dawn spreads its light over the massive buildings and infrastructure. The Naboo spacecraft navigate their way to a clover-shaped landing platform where the fighters land on one 'leaf' and the Wing lands on the central and largest 'leaf'.

Also on the landing platform are a small group of dignitaries awaiting to greet the senator. One of these is a well dressed JAR-JAR BINKS.

CAPTAIN TYPHO jumps down from the wing of his fighter and approaches the female pilot of the other fighter.

CAPTAIN TYPHO
We made it. I guess I was wrong, there was no danger at all.

A ramp lowers from the Wing, and Senator AMIDALA, VERSÉ, and some Naboo guards and troopers descend and begin to make their way towards the meeting party. At the foot of the ramp, there is a sudden explosion and a huge flash of light, and everyone is sent sprawling on the ground. The Escort pilots eventually run over to where AMIDALA lays dying. The female pilot kneels next to Senator AMIDALA and removes her helmet revealing none other than - Senator AMIDALA / PADMÉ herself ! (tf.n)

PADMÉ rushes over to the dying CORDÉ. In a tender scene PADMÉ holds the young girl in her arms.

CORDÉ
...I'm sorry, M'Lady...I'm...not sure I...

She dies in PADMÉ's arms.

CAPTAIN TYPHO, PADMÉ's personal bodyguard and R2-D2 were also in fighters and they are the only survivors. PADMÉ lowers CORDÉ to the ground. She gets up and looks around at the devastation. There are tears in her eyes.

UV GIZEN, Chancellor PALPATINE's personal aide, is nearby on a Senate Scooter. As soon as he sees the explosions, he rides off, sending a communique to PALPATINE. (episode-x.com)

The tragic and disturbing news of Senator AMIDALA of the Naboo system's assassination spreads quickly through the political centres of Courscant, resonating in the great halls of the Galactic Senate Chamber. UV GIZEN tells PALPATINE the terrible news. (the Force.net). The senate has gathered to vote on whether or not to create an army for the Republic. (there's probably no talk of a clone army yet). It appears that the Republic may have no standing army of their own, or only a small one. Each system has its own autonomous local security forces, and of course there were always the Jedi, so there was no real need for a big army. (speculation)

On the spice Moons of Bogden, in the System of Naboo, the Mining Guild is beginning to cause trouble for the small Republic System. The Mining Guild has aligned itself to the Confederacy of Independent Systems; an alliance of corrupt Senators and greedy trade factions, secretly led by COUNT DOOKU, former Jedi Master, to separate the fragile Galactic Republic.

On Coruscant, a small group of Senators form the Loyalist Committee. This group tries to maintain the ideals of the Republic. Senator JAR-JAR BINKS of Naboo, Viceroy BAIL ORGANA of Alderaan, Senator Orn Free Taa of Ryloth and Senator Horox Ryyder are its members. This group is asked to decide upon the mobilisation of the Kaminoan army by Supreme Chancellor PALPATINE for the crisis unfolding on Geonosis. Although some Senators have followed the money rather then the care of the galaxy, Senator Ask Aak of Malastare, Senator Darsana of Glee Anslem, Senator Lexi Dio of Uyter and Senators Ronet Coorr and Zo Howler, voice their concerns in the Senate over the latest string of events. Senator Tundra Dowmeia is a loyal Coruscant Senator (tf.n)

PALPATINE
My esteemed colleagues, I have received some tragic and disturbing news. (Aldera.net)

PALPATINE announces that Senator AMIDALA of the Naboo system has been assassinated. PALPATINE says that the vote on the defense force proposal is even more urgent now, because had Senator PADMÉ the protection she needed, she would not have met a violent end...so too could the Republic meet such an end without proper protection (speculation). (AMIDALA is just one of several galactic Senators who have been targets for assassination. Many have been offed successfully. This is one of the things motivating the Senate to vote on a new army; they're getting very nervous...)

There is a shocked silence in the vast arena.

PALPATINE
This grevious blow is especially personal to me. Before I became Chancellor, I served Amidala when she was Queen. She was a great leader who fought for justice, not only in this honorable assembly, but also on her home planet. She was so loved she could have been elected queen for life. She believed in public service, and she fervently believed in democracy. Her death is a great loss to us all. We will all mourn her as a relentless champion of freedom… and as a dear friend. There is a moment of silence. Ask Aak, the Senator of Malastare, moves his pod into the center of the arena.

How many more Senators will die before this civil strife ends ?! We must confront these rebels now, and we need an army to do it !

A second pod moves into the center of the area with Darsana, the Ambassador of Glee Anselm.

Why weren’t the Jedi able to stop this assassination ?! We are no longer safe, under their protection.

Senator Ask Aak, may I remind you that negotiations are continuing with the separatists. Peace is our objective here … not war.

The Senators yell for and against. MAS AMEDDA tries to calm things down. Senator PADMÉ AMIDALA, with CAPTAIN TYPHO, JAR JAR, and DORMÉ, maneuvres her pod into the center of the vast arena and raises her voice.
Senator AMIDALA
My noble colleagues, I concur with the Supreme Chancellor. At all costs, we do not want war !

The Senate goes quiet, then there is an outburst of cheering and applause. PALPATINE announces that it is with great surprise and joy the chair recognizes the Senator from Naboo, PADMÉ AMIDALA.

AMIDALA
Less than an hour ago, an assassination attempt was made against my life. One of my bodyguards and six others were ruthlessly and senselessly murdered. I was clearly the target but, more importantly, I believe this security measure before us was the target. I have led the opposition to build an army … but there is someone in this body who will stop at nothing to assure it’s passage …

Many of the Senators boo and yell at Senator AMIDALA. However, she continues.
I warn you, if you vote to create this army, war will follow. I have experienced the misery of war first-hand. I do not wish to do so again. Wake up, Senators … you must wake up ! If we offer the separatists violence, they can only show us violence in return ! Many will lose their lives. All will lose their freedom. This decision could very well destroy the very foundation of our great Republic. I pray you do not let fear push you into a disastrous decision. Vote down this security measure, which is nothing less than a declaration of war ! Does anyone here want that ?! I cannot believe they do. (ep-x.com)

Shortly after comes a meeting in the Republic Executive Building. In the conference room are Senator Toonbuck Toora, Senator Darsana, Senator Askaak, BAIL ORGANA, JAR-JAR BINKS, and Supreme Chancellor PALPATINE. DAR WAC, a Rodian Senator, is on the other side of the galaxy and converses via hologram. JAR-JAR BINKS, is now the Senate Representative of the Gungans, alongside Senator AMIDALA on the Naboo platform.

The senators squabble and debate the possibility that "emergency powers" be given to PALPATINE, greatly increasing his power during the conflict with the separatists.

The Supreme Chancellor responds with tears in his eyes.

PALPATINE
If called upon, I will serve. But it will be the saddest day of my life.

With PALPATINE subtly goading the issue, JAR-JAR speaks up and elects himself to raise the issue at the next senate hearing. This is not a spur-of-the-moment decision for JAR-JAR, and really shows his maturity, and that he wants to do his best to ensure the well-being of the Republic. Unfortunately, PALPATINE has manipulated him, and JAR-JAR is helping his more sinister plans. (tf.n)

They also discuss the idea of cloning an army for the Republic. Most everyone in the room is for the clone army except BAIL ORGANA and JAR-JAR BINKS. Bail is undecided, but JAR-JAR is definitely against it.

PALPATINE
Sometimes we have to break the law in order to act in its best interest.

Clearly he is saying that they must create the Republic clone army whether or not the Senate favors the decision. (aldera.net, tf.n)

At Senator PADMÉ's request, a funeral service is held for her Handmaidens and escort guard who were killed in the explosion at the landing platform. Senator JAR-JAR Binks stands with PADMÉ, as do the two Jedi, OBI-WAN KENOBI and his Padawan Learner, ANAKIN Skywalker. Several Senators stand nearby, with Chancellor PALPATINE who notices the obvious concern ANAKIN holds for the once-Queen of Naboo. (Speculation)

After the first assassination attempt on Senator AMIDALA, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine contacts the Jedi Council and asks for their advice on the spiralling events, and for help in protecting her. There is a meeting in Palpatine's office and in attendance are YODA, MACE WINDU, KI-ADI-MUNDI, ADI GALLIA, and PLO KOON. Two Red Royal Guards flank either side of the door.

PALPATINE
I don't know how much longer I can hold off the vote, my friends. More and more star systems are joining the separatists.

MACE WINDU
If they do break away .....

PALPATINE
No ! I will not let that happen !

MACE WINDU
But if they do, you must realize there aren't enough Jedi to protect the Republic. We are keepers of the peace, not soldiers.

PALPATINE
Master Yoda, do you think it will really come to war ?

The Jedi Master closes his eyes to concentrate.

YODA
Worse than war, I fear ..... much worse.

PALPATINE
What ?

MACE WINDU
What do you sense, Master ?

YODA
Impossible to see ..... The Dark Side clouds everything. But this I am sure of ....

They all stand as SENATOR AMIDALA, DORMÉ, CAPTAIN TYPHO, JAR-JAR, MAS AMEDDA, and SENATORS BAIL ORGANA and HOROX RYYDER enter the office. YODA and MACE WINDU move to greet the SENATOR, YODA taps AMIDALA with his cane. (tf.n)

With you the Force is strong, young Senator. To see you alive brings warm feelings to my heart.

PADMÉ
Thank you, Master Yoda. Do you have any idea who was behind the attack ?

MACE WINDU
Our intelligence points to disgruntled spice miners, on the moons of Naboo.

PADMÉ
I don't wish to disagree but I think that Count Dooku was behind it.

There is a stir of suprise.

MACE WINDU
You know, M'Lady, Count Dooku was once a Jedi. He wouldn't assassinate anyone, it is not in his character.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
He is a political idealist, not a murderer.

PALPATINE
Count Dooku has always avoided any kind of conflict. It appears he has no desire to start a war. Why would he kill you ? To what end ? (aldera.net)

I don't know, but everything in my being tells me he was behind it ...

YODA
In dark times nothing is what it appears to be, but the fact remains Senator, in grave danger you are.

The Chancellor turns to face the assembled Jedi and Senators.

PALPATINE
Master Jedi, Mace Windu : may I suggest that the Senator be placed under the protection of your graces ?

BAIL ORGANA
Chancellor, is this a wise use of manpower during these stressful times ?!

AMIDALA
If I may comment, I do not believe the .....

PALPATINE
.... situation is that serious. No, but I do.

AMIDALA realises the consequences this could have.
Please, I don't want anymore guards !!

PALPATINE
I realise all too well that additional security might be disruptive for you, but perhaps someone you are familiar with ..... an old friend like ..... Master Kenobi ?

PALPATINE nods towards MACE, who nods back.

MACE WINDU
That's possible, he has just returned from a Border dispute on Ansion.

PALPATINE
You must remember Obi-Wan, he watched over you during the blockade conflict with Naboo ?

AMIDALA
This is not necessary.

PALPATINE
Please do it for me. I will rest easier. We had a big scare today, the thought of losing you is unbearable.

AMIDALA sighs, and everyone stands to leave.

MACE WINDU
I will have Obi-Wan report to you immediately.

YODA leans towards the headstrong senator, and whispers into her ear.

Palpatine specifically requests from Mace Windu that Anakin and Obi-Wan be assigned to protect the Senator. At the end of the meeting, Anakin and Obi-Wan arrive to escort Amidala. (aldera.net)

Then comes the second meeting in the Senate, in which they discuss purely the idea of creating an army for the Republic. PALPATINE urges everyone to vote for it. He is backed up by Senator Toonbuck Toora of the Commerce Guild, Senator Orn Free Taa, and the Intergalactic Bank Clan who offer to put up the cash. BAIL ORGANA has a role in this scene as well. Senator PADMÉ also speaks and [possibly] she votes for the army. The Military Creation Act (a bill allowing the Senate to create an army) is to be passed. (filmforce.ign.com/starwars)

After speaking at the Senate, following her dramatic arrival, Senator AMIDALA, along with DORMÉ and Captain TYPHO, returns to her Apartment chambers to rest. OBI-WAN KENOBI, ANAKIN SKYWALKER, and JAR-JAR BINKS are already present, and awaiting her.

OBI-WAN KENOBI and SENATOR PADMÉ AMIDALA meet in the middle of the room and shake hands as their entourages gather around them.

OBI-WAN
It's a great pleasure to see you again, milady.

AMIDALA
It has been far too long, Master Kenobi.

AMIDALA looks past him and sees ANAKIN.
Ani ?

ANAKIN steps forward.

AMIDALA
My goodness, you've grown !

ANAKIN
So have you.

AMIDALA gazes at him.

ANAKIN
Grown more beautiful, I mean.

AMIDALA is startled, and tries to hide a blush. Captain TYPHO rolls his eyes and glances over to DORMÉ with a smile. (Forbidden Love trailer)

The two senators and the Jedi sit and discuss the frightening events.

ANAKIN
We will find out who's trying to kill you, Padmé, I promise you.

OBI-WAN shows surprise and concern at his Padawan's very personal vow. (Mystery trailer)

JAR-JAR talks to ANAKIN after AMIDALA leaves the room.

ANAKIN
She didn't even recognize me Jar-Jar. I thought about her every day since we parted, and she's forgotten about me completely. (episode-x.com)

OBI-WAN

As dusk falls and the lights of Coruscant brighten the evening, the Jedi explore the Senator's apartments. They walk through the lounge, out on to the balcony, and back inside again. OBI-WAN notes a further change in his Padawan Learner. (Speculation)

OBI-WAN
You look tired.

ANAKIN
I don't sleep well, anymore.

OBI-WAN
Because of your mother ?

ANAKIN
I don't know why I keep dreaming about her now. I haven't seen her since I was little.

OBI-WAN
I'm not sure what it means... but dreams pass in time.

ANAKIN
I'd rather dream of Padmé. Just being around her again is... intoxicating.

OBI-WAN
Mind your thoughts, Anakin, they betray you. Remember you've made a committment to the Jedi Order... a committment not easily broken... and don't forget she's a politician. They are not to be trusted.

ANAKIN
She's not like the others in the Senate, Master.

OBI-WAN
It's been my experience that Senators are only focused on pleasing their corporstions that fund their campaigns, My young Padawan ... and thay are more then willing to forget the niceties of democracy to get those funds.

ANAKIN
Not another lecture, Master. At least not on the economics of politics. It's too early in the morning ... and besides, you're generalizing. The Chancellor doesn't appear to be corrupt.

OBI-WAN
Palpatine's a politician, I've observed that he is very clever at following the passions and prejudices of the Senators.

ANAKIN
I think he is a good man. My instincts are very positive about him ... (tf.n)

Ani...

ANAKIN
ANAKIN ! Ani makes me sound like a little boy.

PADMÉ
Don't try to grow up too fast.

ANAKIN

His feelings hurt, he leaves her to rest in the bedroom. ANAKIN and OBI-WAN join CAPTAIN TYPHO. The padawan suggests making the Apartment appear empty of all guards, though he will remain in the lounge in a meditative state that should be overlooked by any further assassination attempt. His Jedi Master is incredulous. (speculation)

OBI-WAN

ANAKIN nods.

OBI-WAN
It's too risky ... and your senses aren't that attuned, young apprentice.

ANAKIN
And yours are?

OBI-WAN
Possibly.

ANAKIN

I'll have an officer on every floor and I'll be at the command center downstairs. (tf.n)

R2 is shut down, 'dozing' near PADMÉ in her bedroom, while ANAKIN stays and meditates in the apartment lounge. OBI-WAN has a palm-sized security device on his belt, so he can watch PADMÉ and R2-D2 in her quarters.

OBI-WAN later returns to ANAKIN and they discuss the recent developments and PALPATINE'S proposals to the Senate. OBI-WAN checks his surveillance device but there is no sign of PADMÉ.

OBI-WAN asks ANAKIN what is going on, but the Padawan just shrugs it off.

ANAKIN
She covered the camera. I don't think she likes me watching her. (tf.n)

Outside, the assassin probot drifts towards AMIDALA's open window, and lets loose a hive of Kouhons, venomous caterpillar-like creatures. They scurry inside, and make their way towards the sleeping Naboo Senator.

ARTOO sounds the alarm and shines a light on the bed. The KOUHUNS are almost upon PAMDÉ... ANAKIN and OBI-WAN suddenly sense a strange presence inside the sleeping chamber.

ANAKIN and OBI-WAN
I have a bad feeling about this !

The Jedi burst in to the room. The Kouhuns stand on their hind legs and hiss as PADMÉ wakes up. ANAKIN throws himself in front of her, slicing in half the deadly creatures with his lightsabre. Everyone stamps and kills the caterpillars, while OBI-WAN, noticing the probot just outside, draws on the Force to leap out of the window !

ANAKIN and PADMÉ stare at the sight of OBI-WAN being carried off by the droid. ANAKIN turns to her, she pulls her nightdress around her shoulders.

ANAKIN
Stay here ! (tf.n)

As Obi-Wan hangs onto the assassin droid with his life, it bumps against a wall hoping to knock the Jedi loose. However it fails and instead races behind the afterburner of a speeder, trying to scorch him loose. Again, it fails. It takes the Obi-Wan wildly between buildings and finally skims across a rooftop as Obi-Wan is forced to lift his legs, then run across the roof, tenaciously hanging onto the droid. The droid heads for a dirty, beat-up speeder hidden in an alcove of a building about twenty stories up. When the pilot of the speeder, a scruffy bounty hunter called Zam Wesell, sees the droid approach with Obi-Wan hanging on, she pulls a long rifle out of the speeder and starts to fire at the Jedi. Explosions burst all around Obi-Wan. “I have a bad feeling about this,” says Obi-Wan to himself. Finally, the Droid suffers a direct hit from Zam’s rifle and blows up. Obi-Wan falls fifty stories, until a speeder drops down next to him, and he manages to grab onto the back end of the speeder and haul himself toward the cockpit. The Jedi struggles to climb into the passenger seat of the open speeder and sit down next to the driver, Anakin. (ep-x.com, tf.n, Aldera.net)

OBI-WAN
What kept you ? (Speculation, Chyren)

ZAM leaps into her speeder and takes off at high speed through the Coruscant traffic, aiming for the lower levels.

OBI-WAN
Follow that speeder !!

ANAKIN and OBI-WAN chase ZAM WESSELL at high speeds through the heavy traffic. OBI-WAN is concerned that ANAKIN doesn't see the obstacles ahead and warns him to watch out for the towers they only narowly miss. ANAKIN passes a huge statue of CHANCELLOR PALPATINE by a whisker (tf.n). OBI-WAN lectures his padawan by asking him how many times has he told him to be careful. (tf.n) ANAKIN shrugs it off, thinking that his role as a Padawan learner should be over by now (speculation).

ANAKIN That was wacky !! I almost lost you in the traffic.

OBI-WAN What took you so long ?!

ANAKIN Oh, you know, Master, I couldn’t find a speeder I really liked, with an open cockpit… and with the right speed capabilities… and then you know I had to get a really gonzo color…

OBI-WAN If you’d spend as much time working on your saber skills as you do on your wit, young Padawan, you would rival Master Yoda as a swordsman.

They zoom upward in hot pursuit of Zam as she fires out the open window at them with her laser pistol. Anakin moves in and out of oncoming traffic.

ANAKIN I thought I already did.

OBI-WAN Only in your mind, my very young apprentice.

Anakin darts across lanes of traffic, flies between two buildings and miraculously through a construction site.

OBI-WAN Careful !! Hey, easy !!

ANAKIN Sorry, I forgot you don’t like flying, Master.

Zam Wesell continues to fire at them. They barely miss a commuter train.

OBI-WAN I don’t mind flying … but what you’re doing is suicide !!

ANAKIN Master, you know I’ve been flying since before I could walk. I’m very good at this.

OBI-WAN Just slow down !

Anakin and Zam race through a line of cross-traffic made up of giant trucks. The speeders bank sideways as they slide around right-angle turns between buildings. Zam races into a tram tunnel.

OBI-WAN Wait ! Don’t go in there !

Anakin zooms into the tunnel after Zam. Suddenly, they see a tram coming at them. They brake, turn around, and race out, barely ahead of the charging commuter transport.

OBI-WAN You know I don’t like it when you do that !

ANAKIN Sorry, Master. Don’t worry, this guy’s gonna kill himself any minute now !

Zam turns into oncoming traffic, delibrately trying to throw the Jedi off. Oncoming speeders swerve, trying to avoid Zam and the Jedi. Zam does a quick, tight loop-over and ends up behind the Jedi. She is now in a much better position to fire at them with her laser pistol. To avoid being hit by the laser bolts, Anakin slams on the brakes and moves alongside Zam. She now fires point-blank at Obi-Wan. (ep-x.com)

OBI-WAN What are you doing ?! He’s gonna blast me !

ANAKIN Right – this isn’t working. (ep-x.com)

They are closing on the assassin's speeder, when it cuts to the left, and skims low over the roof of a building. Rather than tailing it, ANAKIN continues on, and sweeps around another building. OBI-WAN points back.

OBI-WAN
It went that way !

ANAKIN
This is a short-cut .... I think !

He sends their yellow speeder through some roof pylons, that light up around them with purple lightning.

OBI-WAN
How many times have I got to tell you to stay away from the power couplings ....?!

The speeder and its occupants are battered about, but ANAKIN retains control of it, and they slip out the other side. (Mystery trailer)

OBI-WAN
Well, you lost him !

ANAKIN
I'm deeply sorry, master. (T'Bone)

At that point, ANAKIN looks around and spots something. He seems to start counting to himself as he watches something below approach, timing it out. (T'Bone)

ANAKIN
Can you excuse me for just a moment ? (sw.com)

... and jumps right out of the speeder ! OBI-WAN looks down and sees ZAM's speeder about five stories below them cruising past. ANAKIN has miraculously landed on top of ZAM WESSELL's speeder ! The speeder wobbles under the impact and ZAM looks up and realizes someone's on the vehicle. (T'Bone)

OBI-WAN quickly takes control of their speeder. However, ZAM is able to flip her speeder and shakes ANAKIN out onto the hull. Accelerating, the Padawan is thrown to the end of ZAM's speeder, but manages to catch hold of a fin, and starts to climb back up to the cockpit. This time, ZAM nose-dives, and the Padawn is thrown towards the front. Again, he catches onto a protrusion, and hauls himself towards ZAM. ANAKIN then reaches for his saber and lights it in the bouncer's face in attempt to scare him away. The bouncer isn't frightened away, in fact he grows double in size and gets ready to fight. OBI-WAN shoots Anakin a look. Why do I think you are going to be the death of me ?!

ANAKIN Don’t say that Master ... You’re the closest thing I have to a father... I love you and do not want to cause you pain.

OBI-WAN Then why don’t you listen to me ?!

ANAKIN I will. I’ll do better, I promise.

Obi-Wan settles with this and instead asks Anakin if he can see him, refering to the bounty hunter they're looking for. Anakin believes that 'he' is actually a 'she', and Obi-Wan, going away, advises Anakin to be extra careful. He nods to the room, telling Anakin to check it out. Anakin asks his Master where he is going. "To get a drink", comes Obi-Wan's reply as he heads for the bar. (ep-x.com)

She is hiding amongst the dancers who perform in open glass tubes. (Speculation) The Master and Apprentice duo encounter a rather seedy character - Elan Sleazebaggano. Elan approaches the two Jedi when they're in the building. He offers them "death-sticks", which are probably some sort of drug in the SW galaxy. As a good, law-abiding citizen, OBI-WAN takes it upon himself to use a Jedi mind trick on Sleazebaggano, advising him that he should really "re-think his life". (the Force.net)

Coruscant, outside the club

The Jedi carry ZAM into the alley and begin to interrogate her on the assasination attempts on the Senator of Naboo. Before any real info can be divulged there is a 'fzzzt' sound and ZAM slumps dead. OBI-WAN pulls a wicked looking dart out of her neck. ZAM is 'disintegrated' by this mysterious dart, fired by JANGO FETT. (Aldera.net and other sources).

Zam Wesell is a Clawdite shapeshifter, and 'disintegrates' through her guises back to her original state. (ep-x.com, aldera.net)

OBI-WAN kneels beside her. ZAM has one hand on his shoulder, keeping her up off the ground. Then her face starts to change. Her body itself doesn't change form and her clothes stay the same. Her face gets a little wider. At the sime time her eyes get more oval and her nose gets wider and flatter. Lines start to appear in her facial features and her cheeks get sucked in. The green hue increases. Finally, her skin becomes very wrinkled and she falls onto her back, arms outstretched, though her right arm is severed at the elbow - the result of OBI-WAN's maneuver inside the club. A greenish, lizard-looking thing is left. (T'Bone)

JANGO activates his jetpack and takes off, arrogantly flying over the heads of the two Jedi. OB1 makes a mental note of Fett's unusual armoured suit, and has a feeling that their paths will cross again sometime soon. (Chyren, speculation)

The weapon that kills ZAM is mysterious to the Jedi.

OBI-WAN and ANAKIN enter DEX'S DINER where they meet an old connection of his, DEXTER JETTSTER. Hermione Bagwa, the head waitress, introduces them. Seboca and Rednax, two Dugs, are nearby, with a Rodian, Honka. Septo Waa, a Nikto, and Bogg Tyrell chat to one side. (tf.n) Lieutenant Faytonni and another patron, Achk Medbeq, drift through. Hermoine Bagwa stops wiping down tables to welcome the Jedi as he enters the restaurant. Bagwa asks Kenobi if he needs assistance.

OBI-WAN I'm looking for Dexter Jettster.

HERMIONE BAGWA Waddya want him for ?

OBI-WAN Dexter's not in trouble. The visit is one of a personal nature.

A brief pause follows, while the waitress inspects the Jedi, she turns and proceeds to a hatch between the diner and it's kitchen. As she opens the hatch, Hermoine tells Dexter that there is "Someone to see ya, honey..." Then lowering her voice she informs him that she believes the visitor is a Jedi. A large alien head pokes through the hatch which Hermoine spoke into, Dexter's head is surrounded by steam as he looks across to see Obi-Wan Kenobi waiting for him.

DEXTER Obi-Wan !

OBI-WAN Hey Dex.

DEX Take a seat ! Be right with ya !

Kenobi takes a seat by a nearby booth while he waits on Dexter. Heromine Bagwa then offers him a cup of ardees, to which he replies with a simple thank you. (jedinet.com)

DEXTER is a large reptilian creature with four arms. The ex-soldier has a ridge running along the top of his head towards his back and his nose is almost non-existant. His traditional attire includes a spattered T-shirt, pants and a small apron. Being a larger alien creature of probably 300+ pounds, his shirt doesn't quite fit right and is exposed to reveal his large belly.

The three fingered hands look perfect to grill burgers. He also wears sandals that reveal he has three toes as well. He's a tough guy : his four arms are bulging with muscles ! And he also smokes. (the Force.net)

Dexter Jettster comes out from the kitchen area to come what Obi-Wan wants. Dex is a very big alien with a stained white t-shirt and apron, just as you'd imagine any diner owner or cook. He has four arms with four fingers on each hand. He has a big bulging neck like a bullfrog. His lips are thick and in close proximity to his eyes and small nose. He has large, round feet with pointy toes and a very big belly that sticks out under his shirt. He's a very big guy, bald and sweaty - not someone to tangle with. Dex and Obi-Wan have a past, it seems. Dexter is so big he can hardly fit into the small diner seat. Hermione brings the two fellows two mugs of steaming 'ardees'. (T'Bone)

With three arms DEXTER hugs his long time friend OBI-WAN and with his other arm he shakes hands with ANAKIN. OBI-WAN seems to have a look of fondness on his face for DEXTER and it is obvious that they both are very good friends, with old history between them. (tf.n)

ANAKIN, meanwhile, stands next to OBI-WAN, getting a good look at the patrons, who give the young Jedi dirty looks.

The conversation shifts to discussing what bring them to his establishment. OBI-WAN hands a dart to DEXTER who then examines it, and seems very shocked by it. OBI-WAN and ANAKIN know that DEXTER knows more than he is letting them in on. (tf.n)

DEXTER gives OBI-WAN the rough coordinates of the planet, because Kamino is outside the Republic, even further than Tatooine. It is near the 'Rishi Maze'. (ep-x.com)

The two Jedi return to PADMÉ's quarters. They discuss the situation for a while, and the three decide to seek advice from the Jedi Council.

They request a meeting with the Jedi Council : they wait for YODA to complete his lesson about lightsabres to a group of padawan children on a balcony (tf.n). MARI AMITHEST is one of the padawans in this 'Bear Clan'. (episode-X.com)

OBI-WAN finally presents the problem of Kamino to Yoda. They enter the holomap room from the balcony, and the Bear clan follow. OBI-WAN takes a glass sphere from a nearby cabinet, and inserts it into the end of a glass rod, recessed into the base of the holomap projector, and a spherical star map is projected into the air : its coordinates roughly match that part of the Outer Rim referred to by DEXTER. When they look at the holomap they merely see a blank spot where the planet is supposed to be. But the young Padawans suddenly point out a gravity anomaly on the holomap where a planet ought to be. They have found Kamino ! (ep-X.com, speculation)

In the Council Chamber it is decided that ANAKIN must accompany PADMÉ back to Naboo where she'll be safe (Aldera.net).

The Jedi Council confers with OBI-WAN about ZAM WESSELL and the mysterious JANGO... OBI-WAN tells them that Kamino is the only planet where Kyber Darts can be found; he suspects that there's something larger and more sinister on Kamino. The Jedi Council dispatches OBI-WAN to journey to Kamino to investigate who was really behind the assassination attempts on Senator AMIDALA. Since Anakin voiced his concern that Amidala might refuse to return to Naboo, Mace suggests that the padawan ask Chancellor Palpatine to persuade her. Anakin travels to the Chancellor's Office.

I promise that I'll talk to her. Senator Amidala will not refuse an executive order. I know her well enough to ensure you of that.

ANAKIN
Thankyou, Your Excellency.

PALPATINE
So my young Padawan, they have finally given you an assignment, your patience has paid off.

I think it was rather the Chancellor's guidance than my own patience.

PALPATINE

MACE WINDU and YODA walk down a long hallway, lit by a bright glow from a room at the end (The Map Room ?).

Why couldn't we see this attack on the senator ? It's been ten years, and the Sith still have not shown themselves. Do you think they are behind this ?

... Out there, they are. A certainty, that is.

The Jedi Master pauses.
YODA
And only those who have turned to the Dark Side can sense the possibilities of the future. Only going through the Dark Side can we see.

Coruscant, Senator Amidala's apartments

Senator AMIDALA oversees the packing of her things, while ANAKIN stands near by. Senator JAR-JAR BINKS is also present. ANAKIN moans about Master OBI-WAN, and feels he is ready to face the Jedi Trials.

AMIDALA
You are whining !!

ANAKIN
I am not whining ! I am not !

JAR-JAR then tries to cover up and clears his throat. He pompously continues.
Oh, pardon-ay, Senator. I am honored to accept this heavy burden. I take on this responsibility with deep humility tinged with an overwhelming pride. It is not every day that I am called upon to...

He's cut off as AMIDALA gives him a hug and kiss on the cheek, and the Gungan blushes.
AMIDALA
You're a good friend, Jar Jar. I don't wish to hold you up. I'm sure you have a great deal to do.

JAR-JAR

JAR JAR bows before the Senator and flashes a dazzling toothy smile towards ANAKIN as he leaves the apartment (ep-x.com).

However, AMIDALA is not impressed by the instructions given to her by the Chancellor or the Jedi Council ('Mystery' Trailer). She strides past ANAKIN and moves to some travelling containers, returning to her packing with DORMÉ. The senator is not in a good mood (ep-x.com).

AMIDALA

ANAKIN
Don’t worry, now that the Council has ordered an investigation, it won’t take Master Obi-Wan long to find that bounty hunter.

But AMIDALA is frustrated with the turn of events and the Jedi‘s decision for her to return to Naboo.
I have worked for nearly a year to defeat the Military Creation Act and now I have to leave at a crucial time when its fate is to be decided in the Senate !

ANAKIN

AMIDALA is annoyed by his remarks.
Pride?!? I don't believe that you have a firm grip on politics. Besides you are far too young to understand the situation. I suggest you reserve your opinions for some other time.

The main entrance at the base of the huge Jedi temple was bustling with activity. Jedi of all descriptions were entering and leaving the building. Obi-Wan walked up the stairs and entered, making his way to the Jedi Archives. A bronze bust of Count Dooku stood among a line of other busts of Jedi in the Archive Room. Obi-Wan stopped in front it, studying the striking features of the chiseled face. On the walls, lit computer panels seemed to stretch into infinity. Farther along the room in the background, five Jedi were seated at tables, studying archival material. Obi-Wan studied the bust for a few moments before Madame Jocastu Nu, the Jedi Archivist came up and stood next to him. She was an elderly, frail-looking human Jedi dressed in a yellow and brown robe. She was tough as old boots and as sharp as a whip.

JOCASTA NU Did you call for assistance ?

OBI-WAN Yes… yes, I did….

JOCASTA He has a powerful face, doesn’t he ? He was one of the most brilliant Jedi I have had the privilege of knowing.

OBI-WAN I never understood why he quit. Only twenty Jedi have ever left the Order.

JOCASTA The Lost Twenty … and Count Dooku was the most recent and the most painful. No one likes to talk about it. His leaving was a great loss to the Order.

OBI-WAN What happened ?

JOCASTA Well, one might say, he was always a bit out of step with the decisions of the Council … much like your old Master, Qui-Gon Jinn.

OBI-WAN Really ?

JOCASTA Oh, yes. They were alike in many ways. Very individual thinkers … idealists … He was always striving to become a more powerful Jedi. He wanted to be the best. With a lightsaber, in the old style of fencing, he had no match. His knowledge of the Force was … unique. In the end, I think he left because he lost faith in the Republic. He believed that politics were corrupt, and he felt the Jedi betrayed themselves by serving the politicians. He always had very high expectations of government. He disappeared for nine of ten years, then he just showed up recently as the head of the separatist movement.

OBI-WAN Interesting … I’m still not sure I understand.

JOCASTA Well, I’m sure you didn’t call me over here for a history lesson. Are you having a problem, Master Kenobi ? (ep-x.com)

She shows Obi-Wan a hologram of Dooku and Qui-Gon Jinn fighting alongside each other as comrades-in-arms. (Aldera.net)

Count DOOKU comes from a fabulously rich family and became a Jedi relatively late, at the age of two. This late start made DOOKU more independent than other Jedi Knights in the Order. He was a master swordsman and often used his money to buy antiques.

OBI-WAN'S former Master, QUI-GON JINN, used to be DOOKU'S apprentice and it was from DOOKU that QUI-GON first learnt defiance and now has passed it down through OBI-WAN to ANAKIN. Ten years before, DOOKU left the Jedi Order and disappeared, because he believed the politicians for whom they were working for, were corrupt. (ep-x.com)

They discuss the mysterious location of Kamino, but the Librarian can find no record relating to Dexter's navigation coordinates.

Since DARTH SIDIOUS is behind the cloning on Kamino and doesn't want OBI-WAN to discover what's happening there, he contacts DARTH TYRANNUS and tells him the Jedi Knight is on his way, and to warn JANGO FETT. (aldera.net)

Before setting off for Naboo, Anakin and Padme are bid farewell by Jar Jar Binks on a nondescript cargo freighter. Jar Jar does not go with them.

Amongst the busy spaceport in Coruscant‘s Industrial area, where floating cranes are unloading passengers and goods, a commuter bus arrives amongst the shadows of an intergalactic freighter. Senator Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, dressed in Outland peasant clothing, get off the bus and greet a small farewell party. Included in the party is Obi-Wan Kenobi, Captain Typho and Dorme (who now replaces the role of Sabe, and Corde, as Amidala‘s decoy). Dorme is dressed identically to Senator Amidala and has Amidala and Anakin‘s luggage with her.

CAPTAIN TYPHO
Be careful, m’lady

AMIDALA
Thank you, Captain, take good care of Dormé.

DORMÉ lightens the serious situation, and draws laughter from the group.
He’ll be safe with me !!

But the laughter soons stops as Amidala warns the Captain that the threat is now on him and Dorme. Dorme starts to weep as Padme tenderly embraces her surviving handmaiden a fond farewell. (ep-x.com)

PADMÉ You’ll be fine.

DORMÉ It’s not me, M’Lady. I worry about you. What if they realize I’m not you ?

PADMÉ looks towards Anakin cheekily. Then my Jedi protector will have to prove how grown up he is.

Dormé smiles once again as Padmé grins towards Anakin. However, Anakin only frowns and is pulled aside by Obi-Wan.

OBI-WAN Anakin, you stay put on Naboo. Do not attract any attention to yourself or the Senator. Do absolutely nothing without checking in with me or the Council.

Anakin acknowledges his Master’s wishes.

OBI-WAN I will get to the bottom of this plot quickly, M’Lady. You’ll be back here in no time.

PADMÉ I will be most grateful for your speed, Master Jedi.

ANAKIN Time to go.

PADMÉ I know.

Padmé gives Dormé one last hug. Anakin picks up the luggage, and the two peasants exit the speeder bus, where Artoo is waiting for them.

OBI-WAN May the Force be with you.

ANAKIN May the Force be with you, Master.

Padmé, Anakin and Artoo head off toward the giant Starfreighter.

PADMÉ Suddenly, I’m afraid ….

ANAKIN I’m kinda scared too. This is my first assignment on his own.

PADMÉ replies cheekily. There’s nothing to worry about ... we have Artoo with us.

The two peasants laugh. Obi-Wan and Captain Typho watch Anakin and Padme disappear into the vastness of the spaceport with Artoo trundling along behind them.

OBI-WAN I hope he doesn't try anything foolish.

CAPTAIN TYPHO I'd be more concerned about her doing something, than him.

The freighter slowly takes off from the huge docks area of Coruscant. It soon moves into the crowded skies. (ep-x.com)

The ship they travel in is a scheduled flight between planets. Anakin and Padme are not alone : there are a lot of aliens on this ship. (aldera.net)

They take to the stars and begin the journey. There are scenes in the ship that get the love story underway (aldera.net). PADMÉ is dressed in a gold hooded travelling cloak (SW Insider pix) while the always alert ANAKIN wears a tunic-smock over his dark leather Jedi uniform. Travelling with them are many other humans and aliens (juice.net spy report).

The great, gloomy hold of the Starfreighter is crowded with emigrants and their belongings. R2-D2 makes his way through the crowd to the head of a food line, where servers are ladling out bowls of mush. R2 picks up two bowls and joins the line. "Keep moving! Keep moving!" whines the server. R2 moves along the bar, slipping a little tube into a tub of mush and sucking up a large quantity. With one of his little claw-arms, he grabs several chunks of something that looks like brown bread. The server spots R2. "Hey! No Droids!" he yells. R2 beeps and takes one last big suck. He quickly moves away from the food line as the server shouts after him angrily. (tf.n, T'Bone)

The little droid moves past groups of eating or sleeping emigrants including Sullustans, Aqualish, Ishi Tib and other species. He comes to where Anakin is sound asleep. The young Jedi seems to be having a nightmare and is very restless.

ANAKIN mutters and begins to sweat. No, no, Mom, no...

Padmé leans over Anakin and begins to wipe some of the sweat from his forehead. Suddenly, he wakes up with a start, then realizes where he is.

ANAKIN What ?!

PADMÉ looks at him. You seemed to be having a nightmare.

He stares back at Padmé closely, trying to see if he has revealed any of his secrets to her. R2 fills up the two bowls with mush. Padmé asks Anakin if he's hungry and Anakin takes the bowl with a quick thank you.

PADMÉ We went into lightspeed a while ago.

PADMÉ
It must be difficult having sworn your life to the Jedi, not being able to do the things you like.

ANAKIN
Or be with the people that I love ?

PADMÉ
Are you allowed to love ? I thought that was forbidden for a Jedi.

ANAKIN half-smiles, troubled by this thought. (Forbidden Love trailer, speculation)

ANAKIN Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is central to a Jedi’s life, so you might say we’re encouraged to love.

Padmé smiles and tells him that he's changed so much.

ANAKIN You haven't changed a bit. You’re exactly the way I remember you in my dreams. I doubt if Naboo has changed much either .... I can't wait to breathe the sweet breeze that comes off the rolling hills. Whenever I try to visualize the Force, those hills are what I see. I love Naboo.

This creates another an awkward moment. Padmé, once again, changes the topic. She asks if Anakin was dreaming of his mother before. He tells her it's true and that because he left Tatooine so long ago, his memory of her is fading and he doesn't want to lose it. He goes on to tell her he's been seeing her in his "vivid and scary" dreams. He's worried about her. Padmé gives Anakin a sympathetic look. (T'Bone, tf.n)

OBI-WAN's Starfighter is ready for takeoff. OBI-WAN and MACE WINDU stand beside it.

Be wary, this disturbance in the Force is growing stronger.

I'm concerned for my padawan. He is not ready to be on his own.

He has exceptional skills. The council is confident in its decision, Obi-Wan. If the prophecy is true, he will be the one to bring balance to the Force.

OBI-WAN
